True they are definitely the same person lol, outside of them the stories and characters are pretty different...especially considering i've heard that the "player" is supposed to come back in Corin's story

Honestly, i'd argue they're not the same. Their personalities are wildly different and Ed isn't actually strong like Corin. Ed's later fights involve strategies that don't rely on being OP all the time, and his stoicness is a really core part of the story and his interactions with people. Granted, i could say the same about how Corin is just a gremlin, pretty funny ngl.

I'd say the setup and payoffs of Extra's Academy are pretty solid if not more solid than Corin's webtoon. All the mechanics in this story are setup and used in different parts later on, there's no random bs pulls from anywhere.

I'm not saying she's justified in what she did, just that it was set up in a way where it's not annoying. But if he really wants her to continue working there, seeing how they have a relationship of +80 years, then he has to actually go say something instead of letting her exile herself

Don't get me wrong, i hate when characters use love potions etc to brainwash people. I dropped another story because of that, i'm just saying objectively that the way to place barriers in a story for "op characters" is to make them use their head in situations they can't just "beat someone up" to solve the problem.

I- honestly never believed that any type of "love magic" would work on this guy in the first place, and it was set up for the most part that it was fake. I'm annoyed but fine with this as opposed to the other story because it

B. Was never intended to work
C. The character doing it didn't get away scot free

The story is really put together well, it's just a shame that the rubegoldberg machine ends with a middle finger and pie in the face. Reinhardt was a chad. Now he's a punk. Can't defend himself verbally or phyically. The one person he loved first and most feels to guilty to be with him. Charlotte and Harriet have him henpecked and treat him like a big idiot (i know he's an idiot but c'mon) and he has the personality of most beta, wimpy, trash isekai mcs. Like he just sits there embarrassed and stammering 24/7 (So i guess he reverted). Which is odd because he's like a bonafide war veteran. His future kids don't respect him, "Didn't you beat up kids in school"...."Yeah because they literally tried to kill me or others"

AND HE NEVER ENDS UP WITH ELLEN FULLY THEY JUST HAVE AN AFFAIR AND SHE KINDA FLIES IN AND OUT OF HIS LIFE WTF

The feelings of hate, distrust, and resolve from his friends (Ellen and Charlotte mainly) build up, and they're putting their faith in him as support to handle that

Ellen and Reinhardt both have secrets, and as they get to know each other more- kinda vibe with each other, Ellen wants Reinhardt to "look at her more" and know all of his secrets just like he slowly gets to learn hers.

This causes an intense amount of crippling stress for Reinhardt and the readers until the secret finally drops
Overwhelmed by grief and betrayal, Ellen and Charlotte leave the interrogation to Bertus and Reinhardt is tortured brutally, has his demon family members killed/tortured. Lastly he's put on trial for being the demon king and asked what his plan is, just for the event to happen.

turns out he had the apocolypse causing device the whole time, from the very start.

Suddenly there's a hokage war arc...actually it's more like the rumbling?

The destined hero is of course Ellen, so she has to kill Reinhardt who she loves. Reinhardt eventually holds a hero weapon so he was supposed to fight by her side to kill the next demon king (oh the irony).

To stop this apocalypse he had to become the demon king. And his friends/subordinates have a nasty habit of doing stuff behind his back. Also, Harriet, Lianna, and Olivia join him/bust him out when the apocalyse/interrogation happened.

First Lianna (lightning girl) was killing a bunch of survivors of the event who didn't like the demon lord...and the ghost arc...HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS.

Their resentment became ghostly spirits like in the mansion arc from before

These ghosts become legion (for they are many) and swear to destroy him and everything he loves. They first possess olivia, then like a chad reinhard absorbs them

That jacks him up, so his crew takes advantage of Ellen's overwhelming guilt that Reinhardt was right all along and she gets possesed.

So she's now slowly getting possessed/corrupted into a mindless machine to kill the demon lord
And that guilt becomes her whole personality fort he rest of the novel, making her incapable of listening to Reinhardt going "it's okay, i love you" she just can't bear to be with him

why spend 500+ chapters of solo ellen for it to end like this
