Even though I'm a fairly big Sonic fan, I personally didn't much enjoy the comic. It just felt like I was going through the motions honestly. There was some hype and cool moments though, even though most of the fights weren't that good. The writing of Ian's half is what saves it though. His dialogue and characterizations of the characters were brilliant. This was my only experience with the FF, but I did enjoy what they brought to the Sonic Universe. I just think the characters in the Sonic franchise are so bland and unchanging, even Sonic's quips have me rolling my eyes nowadays. This issue is still apparent in the comic but I really enjoyed the far greater amount of character work put into them all, which led to that aspect being the best (and carrying) part of the comic for me. Sure it's far lighter hearted than I would like for an never-ending war of child soldiers against a murdering genocidal fat man, as I can't take it seriously, those few moments where the comic actually does grow some balls are the best parts. Sonic just shouldn't have been such a mature setting if they only want to tell light-hearted stories. But that's just me.

The sonic mega drive specials are my favourite sonic comics though. Those comics are exactly what I expect from a story as it fits its spotlight. Light-hearted but with a classic setting of mischief rather than genocidal dictators, so the story actually works, and the fights were fitting to the narrative and well done too. I'd give them a shot if you haven't already, they only have the classic characters so no FF and it's only 3 issues or so.

Yeah, I've enjoyed our previous debates. Not that I'm looking for one now, I'm not that type of person. I fully respect your views. To be able to enjoy a story just for what it is is something I'm envious of and is a entirely valid way to consume a story and I bear no ill will to those who do, hell, sometimes that's the more enjoyable route and it's something I'll never be able to experience again. Though I am open-minded about it, I loved Naruto and One Piece despite their worlds being filled with horrendous deeds that don't fit the story they tell, but that Juxtaposition of a mostly light story in a dark world fits their narratives as they don't focus on those aspects specifically, whether as other stories do and try to make a light story but fails in my eyes because it's not cohesive with what's happening around them. It'd be like if Attack on titan had a story about the magic of friendship, it won't fit the established world, but a conspiracy/political action mystery full of horrors does, as we know. I realise I said I wouldn't argue, this isn't an argument per se, it's just to clear up that I think stories should fit within the parts of the world they built the story around, an example being Naruto's mostly light-hearted story about camaraderie rather than the atrocities committed outside of the spotlight of our heroes. But since MHA has the spotlight be on the entire world, it's difficult to ignore the atrocities and take the light-hearted story seriously because what's happening to the people around our heroes are not happening to the heroes too, which leads to a disconnect and narrative dissonance. This is why I want stories to commit to their "spotlight", like One Piece. Otherwise it's all just a mess. In my opinion. Though people who can enjoy it regardless have my approval. I think that best sums up my views, sorry but I felt it was necessary to convey how I felt about Archie Sonic as well. Since it's so similar to MHA. Though I can definitely tell I'm being annoying now so I'll stop. Sorry.

I can always appreciate someone who can slog through that comic. Personally I'm a sonic fan, but not nearly as big as I used to be as a kid. The archie universe took me just over 2 months to finish reading. The amount of content is insane. And honestly, I thought most of it was boring or disappointing. Flynn's half was far greater than Pender's half, but I just have a lot of core issues with the comic and sonic as a whole. There's barely any stakes and tension, I get it's a comic aimed towards teens and younger, but the fact that barely anybody dies or gets injured in a literal war with child soldiers is insane. I also dislike most of the fights, they are so bland. What saves the comic is the characters, especially when Ian Flynn writes them. But the forced crossovers and the cancellation was awful. There's a fan comic that continues the mecha sally arc without the crossover, it's called "Archie sonic online". It's got awesome art and writing. It fully wraps up the Mecha sally arc and even has a alternate version of the Echidna extinction arc where Knuckles fights thresh, which gives that arc a much better ending and storyline since they can use Pender's characters unlike flynn. And to top it off, they have a Sonic underground SU #50 as originally planned by Archie, as well as a SU arc following Bunnie after she leaves Knothole and leaves the note to Antoine. Speaking of, there's an extra SU issue where they restore the Antoine SU issue that was cancelled at the end of the comic, which is a really epic issue. I've got all my reviews on readcomiconline for the archie canon if you're interested. I think Eggman is my favourite character. He's so deliciously evil in the comics. I just wish the comic was more mature to fit its setting. My same issue with MHA and to a lesser degree; Naruto.

Finitevus is such an great character, along with so many others in the archie canon. It's a shame they got dropped forever and abruptly. So many plotlines, just, gone....

A lot. They met Franky, got involved In a conspiracy, got a new ship, declared war with the WG, Robin's "I want to live", etc. Though I'm combining that and ennies lobby since they are pretty much one giant arc.

I recognise your profile picture, it's Dr. Finitevus from the Archie Sonic comics. I just finished reading that continuity a month ago. Have you read it or you just using the pic as a profile pic? What are your thoughts on it?

I feel like that should've been obvious.

Bloody Water 7 foreshadowed this 20 years ago. Literally, water 7 was introduced on May 31st 2004!

Literally reminded me of that scene too. Both mangaka are quite similar.

Axe-kun again, though this manga ended a while ago.

a 4/10. It was boring besides everything with the striped sweater reverse trap gamer girl. Literally every plot thread wasn't resolved, nothing of note actually happens, and the characters were so bland. Still, I didn't dislike this, I just found it to be mediocre. But the frivolous nature of this manga makes it worse than average. Plus, the ending was horrible with no closure whatsoever. Art was not the best either and the chapters never flowed naturally. Sure there are manga/anime that succeed at that, such as "The daily lives of highschool boys", which is a great anime, but this manga fails at "random school moments". I forgot all the characters names as well.
