a 4/10. It was boring besides everything with the striped sweater reverse trap gamer girl. Literally every plot thread wasn't resolved, nothing of note actually happens, and the characters were so bland. Still, I didn't dislike this, I just found it to be mediocre. But the frivolous nature of this manga makes it worse than average. Plus, the ending was horrible with no closure whatsoever. Art was not the best either and the chapters never flowed naturally. Sure there are manga/anime that succeed at that, such as "The daily lives of highschool boys", which is a great anime, but this manga fails at "random school moments". I forgot all the characters names as well.
It would be cool if those two were actually her siblings and she just lives separately. I remember nothing about this manga and the main manga, so idk if that's conflicting with canon.
The onii-chan also looks like the main guy from Henjo too.

I'm a fan of books, and I do enjoy the concepts that Togashi made, but it's such an utter mess. It's like, 5 different arcs all crammed into one, with FAR too much information to retain. Don't get me wrong, I'm a MASSIVE fan of lore and typically want all the info I can get, but that arc is a catastrophe. There's just simply too much going on. Doesn't help that the structure of that arc is even worse than this MHA arc. Constantly hopping from one POV to the next. The years long constant hiatuses doesn't fucking help either, though I'd much rather Togashi take care of his wellbeing than make a manga, especially since It's a manga and anime I gave a 4/10 for personally. I really enjoyed it when I watched the anime, but as it stewed in my brain and I rewatched a lot of scenes, I came to the realisation that it wasn't nearly as good as I thought, and was actually really flawed and even boring. Particularly the manga. The art is also not the best, it's such a massive downgrade from Yu Yu Hakusho, a manga I also don't like for different reasons. Funnily enough, his wife made Sailor Moon, and I consider that manga to be one of the worst I've ever read in my life. It's not because it's aimed at little girls either, I have a review on my MAL, called "Kirida-San", but to sum it up: It had the exact same plot for every arc (no, I'm literally not even joking, it's the exact same premise recycled with a different skin for the villains EVERY TIME), the art is good but the presentation is the worst I've ever seen from a manga, literally 1 million panels and overlays and sprinkles crowding the page like someone puked Sailor moon onto it, and the fight scenes which are the literal worst "fights" I've ever seen in my life. It's not even like I WANT to hate their works, I just do. Though obviously I wish the best for them and hope their mangas improve. They have a massive fanbase so I know I'm in the minority and that's fine, more power to them I suppose.
I like books, I even read in this day and age, but the amount of reading in HXH gave me a headache every day I read it around the end of 2021.
This MHA arc was so all over the place, they really should've just focused on one battle at a time rather than hopping from battle to battle. Then there's also the whole zero tension due to bullshit quirks that fix everything, no deaths at all despite everybody fighting murderous villains that pretty much rule the world at this point, and the worst cliche cop-outs I've ever seen. I've read bad arcs before, hell most of them were also Battle shonen, like most of the Bleach arcs, most of the 4th ninja war arc In Naruto, and the Granolah arc in Dragon Ball Super.
But I don't think anything will ever top the absolute trainwreck full of dead burning children that is the Boat arc of Hunter X Hunter. I doubt TYE is worse than that garbage. But MHA comes semi close.
One of the worst manga arcs I have ever read. https://i.postimg.cc/br49p1hM/i.png
The ending is of course, unsatisfying, as per the usual with manga. Seriously couldn't show us the kiss at least? "Drawing while masturbating" had a proper ending fitting of its ecchi tag.
But this manga was wholesome and fun, but I'll forget it in due time.
This is my first proper fight of HNI that I'll be witnessing per chapter release. It's definitely hard, but I adore this masterpiece, so I'll endure!
It tackles a lot of unexpected issues, like transgender insecurity, suicide, the pain of living, and slavery. This is a world gone mad, as cold as the icy earth it's set on. Fujimoto's patented "What the fuck did I just read" feeling will permeate through you and you will remember this manga for years to come. The art is fantastic and visceral, you can almost feel the cold and pain on screen. You can also finish this in a day or two. This is a perfect representation of an apocalypse with people blessed with superpowers. This ain't no My hero academia, this is brutal, true human nature. It may feel pretentious to some, but I think this is a manga that everyone should read in their lives.
