Ippo's retirement arc has given him the abilities and knowledge he never learned until he quit, and also from a story perspective it allows us to focus more on the side-characters and not just Ippo, which, after hundreds of chapters of the same Ippo, was a bit dragging. The retirement arc has done exactly what it set out to do, not only improving Ippo and focusing on the side characters, but also by reinvigorating people's interest in Ippo as a fighter so when he comes back it'll be fresh and exciting again.
That said, I hope he comes back after this fight, and that's coming from someone who started and finished this manga last November!
Axe-kun again, though this manga ended a while ago.
a 3/10. It was boring besides everything with the striped sweater reverse trap gamer girl. Literally every plot thread wasn't resolved, nothing of note actually happens, and the characters were so bland. Still, I didn't dislike this, I just found it to be mediocre. But the frivolous nature of this manga makes it worse than average. Plus, the ending was horrible with no closure whatsoever. Art was not the best either and the chapters never flowed naturally. Sure there are manga/anime that succeed at that, such as "The daily lives of highschool boys", which is a great anime, but this manga fails at "random school moments". I forgot all the characters names as well.
But I relate to the needing a hug thing.
Start date: Friday, 14th June, 12:30 PM
It's been a while since I've read a full sports manga, with Ashita no joe in January, which was horrible in my opinion. Although I'm not counting being up to date with Hajime no ippo. HNI and Slam dunk being in my top 10 manga of all time, and Haikyuu!! being in my top 20 anime. Surprised this doesn't have a lot of reads for it's acclaim. Trash taste loves it, so that's usually a good sign. Though Garnt's favourite manga is 20th century boys, which I find to be tremendously overrated, they also liked Yu Yu Hakusho which I found bad too. SO to each their own, although it's usually a good sign if the Trash taste boys recommend it. The longest yard (2005) is one of my favourite movies, and while I know only a little about American football, I think I know enough to enjoy this. Hopefully this manga respects the sport, like HNI, unlike ANJ.
