Your theory about the husband is laughably wrong. First of all, the story does not have to center on the cheating victim (this plays into your whole "omg the MC must have consequences and the man is the victim" analysis). Second of all, the husband reflects on the relationship after the divorce, realizing that they kind of got pushed into the marriage, made lots of compromises, and things weren't really working out due to issues including whether they wanted kids. His story closes with him emotionally moving on to his coworker who he says he likes and is looking forward to going on a date with her. Yes he was cheated on, yes that is horrible, but I think it's great that they show that, contrary to your perspective on it, being cheated on and getting a divorce does not have to be a life ending incident. Life goes on! The fact that you're so obsessed with "fallout" and "consequences" (conveniently ignoring the mental strain, guilt, judgement from society, and other consequences the characters deal with) is proof that you're totally missing the point of the story. Cheating is bad. It is also a human thing that happens all of the time. The story is a window into how people might deal with that and how life goes on. It's also about how, despite how we may try to tie ourselves to other people, that connection may suddenly disappear. The family doesn't revile the MC because they understand that humans are flawed and they see the humanity in MC. Eri tells MC off and then cheats with a married man!
Observing the human condition is not glorification of human shortcomings. Not every story is about perfect people, or about punishing ultimate evil. Some stories are mirrors into the ugly mix of good and evil in humanity. I hope you can at least try to look at the story from a different perspective and understand where i'm coming from.
The story is interesting because MC is generally a good person and has to deal with the fact that she made some very hurtful choices. Bringing the husband to the cookout was weird and awkward, I don't think anyone reading that would think it was cool. In fact, I think it's supposed to be unsettling.
The story deals with people who are generally otherwise good people that make bad decisions. That's an incredibly human thing to showcase. I disagree with your premise that by showing ugly, hurtful sides of humanity means that the author was glorifying the behavior. There's no evidence of that.
