Honestly, I do like when politics in stories like this play this way... not overly convoluted, but making clear there's more at stake behind the words being spoken.

Whenever this updates I have to go back to re-read a few chapters cause it takes quite a bit to update!!

I reckon... at the start of the next chapter she will fail at confessing, but by the end of the chapter SOMEONE WILL confess.

It's quite enjoyable to have some mysteries~~

Unlike a protagonist having to face problems head on... our Lloyd does all the shadow work and goes into battle with all the winning cards already at hand.

As I've read in the Light Novels, Marie was VERY popular with readers!!
Considering how bad her life was and how proactive she is to attain happiness, it's no wonder she would make an interesting heroine.

I think harem endings need to have enough work to feel earned.
First off, the MC must be actually forward in trying to keep the harem, the harem members must show interest in that outcome and the world must bend after a long struggle.
An unearned harem ending would just feel annoying. And if the MC doesn't act proactively, feels even more frustrating.

I think you CAN write a pure protagonist that doesn't go for the harem ending... but it NEEDS to have development.
Keeping the status quo by just doing the same all the time just sucks.
