Even the romance story I wrote during my secondary school years was better than this:
In that story, my MC was politely rejected because the FMC planned to study overseas. She also answered reasonably that even if she accepted the confession, there is far too little time for the relationship to blossom. In the end, the MC graduated school with a mildly lingering regret of not being able to have a relationship with her, but has lifted that weight off his chest and understood that he did not think of his future as much as the FMC did for hers.

PS: My story setting was that the MC and FMC were studying in the same school and joined the same club. Both are bookworms, but the MC is a guy who lives alone but happy with every passing day, while the FMC is doing her best to get better grades to study overseas - similar character dynamic to My Little Monster, except the FMC is a year younger than the MC, which allows the MC to teach FMC time to time during club acitivites.
