And how do you suggest they do that? Beat these five buffoons, and the church send a battalion of soldiers into the slum. For starter they don't even have weapons or anything really to defend themselves let alone "fight back". And seeing how the top hat guy acts, them fighting back wouldn't end with just public execution.

You can see in the last chapter the three eyes appear on the spear rather than the body that got stabbed, and the spear itself originated from the ground, so the hypothesis is that this thing is a special variant that can transform itself and fuse/take over another host that it has killed.

I wouldn't say his senses are dulling. Considering the state of destruction in the area these past chapters, they're probably heading closer to the frontline where the war took place which would explain two things:
1. Humanity lost these areas to the alien, so they retreated, and wherever the human goes, they follow, which would explain why there are none of them here.
2. Like the chapter with the old man, there's a giant Diffusion-type that stores infected corpses inside their body to generate more miasma, which explains why there has been no human corpses.

So far all the robots in this manga have been just sooo chill and likeable. Except for that one fuckwit shelter AI who tried to play control freak.

It wasn't so much he is determined to "survive" rather it's a determination to "use his remaining time" doing something meaningful, in this case, to free his deceased colleagues and give them a proper funeral and as shown in the chapter, that goal of his has already been achieved so there is little left to fuel his "drive" to keep on living.

And while yes, there is a shelter for survivor, what can he hope to achieve by going there? In this context "surviving" just means living another day cooped up inside a safe zone then that is no different than what he had done 3 years prior to the story. Usuzumi said he's the first "alive" survivor she ever met so between living alone here and living alone at the shelter, I see little difference between the two and in that case, why bother moving or even "carry on" living at all, especially when there is little hope left in this world.

He's old. It was only 3 years prior to the story that he was able to gather the courage to go outside, and in that 3 years the only thing that kept him going was to try and give his deceased colleagues and proper funeral. Now that his goal is done, there's little left keeping him in this world. Like even if he decided to postpone his end, what would he even do and where would he even go?
There's nothing left in this ruined world, he can't exactly go out and search for dead people like she does and also unlike Usuzumi, the only place he can live is within the safety of his own containment tent. In that case an early death of his own choice sounds like the much better solution than to live his remaining days waiting for a natural one.
