It has a goal, doesn't mean it's going after said goal with complete abandon because as seen in like in the past dozen chapters where it knows to maneuver, when to push the attack and when to retreat like holy fucking shit, is the monster having high intelligent such a difficult to understand concept? "Just set up explosive on the floor where people have all been evacuated" right, because those explosive will only affect the floor they're on and not shake the entire building or anything. Oh wait.

Literally couple chapters back the wounded monster heard the sound of dog barking where all the people evacuated to and immediately started digging through the ceiling to get to them rather than climbing onto the next floor. If it wasn't for the MC seeing that and warning them about it that whole room would've been slaughtered, and even then it wasn't until the monster had nearly bust through the floor did they realize it was coming.

My guy, again, this fucking monster has shown that it is extremely intelligent even for a juvenile. Even when bullets barely hindered it at all, damn thing knows to use the hallways between the floor of the building to cut line of sight and transition to a different route, and immediately after the first time it already adapted and switched to multiple routes rather than just zigzagging between only two. And once again you literally ignored the fact the fucking thing can just dig through concrete floor and smash through walls like they're made of wet tissue so any and all attempt at trying to set up an ambush for it is a waste of both time and resources. It is not a matter of abundance, but a matter of it being impossible to pinpoint or narrow down the potential paths this thing can take to set up the explosive in any meaningful amount that also won't hinder the movement of your own force should things go south and as seen with this manga, things can and will go south. All of this literally happened at the very next chapter after you proposed all your "armchair specialist" strategy.

Even with the soldier who got bit before, they had heavy weaponry such as the M2 machinegun and many troops to move around, on top of a large area where they can move wherever and however they want. Compare that to a building with 2000+ civilians and 90% enclosed space and you can see just how easy they had it with the first monster. Oh, and let's not forget they were dealing with TWO fucking monsters at the same time.

See that monster maneuverability and how quickly it adapted to people shooting it from above? Yeah, let's see that one guy in the comment suggest putting C4 and claymore everywhere to ambush it now.

My guy, the bullets they currently have in those m82 are designed specifically for the juveniles, and even then all those could do were punch through the skin and that's it. There are no bigger or smaller ones here, all three of the escaped monsters are juveniles, only that one of them is injured from a previous engagement.

They're in a residential area still and collateral damage won't be just about destroyed property. If even 20mm rounds being fired is already enough to be a concern then no way the command is going to permit the use of any kind of explosive no matter how small.

Compared to other series of the same giant monsters genre and even others where death is a common occurrence, the deaths in this manga hit especially hard because the people dying are just your everyday man going about their lives, and that the gore or their last moment is quick and swift instead of being exaggerated or overplayed like many mangas where author just love to show off their talent for "drawing characters dismembered or crying/begging/pissing themselves for mercy".

Why the one time there's a useful side character did you decide to kill her off so early, author?

He can't heal anything that is completely gone. Her left leg got cut off so that could be reattached, but considering the size of the scar her eye is most definitely crushed to smithereens. He replaced Nell's missing body parts with the troll but I don't know if there's like a time limit where you must replace the parts before it's considered truly dead.
