I went to a really good high school in my country. The “nationwide famous” kind. The standard practice is to take middle schoolers with straight A’s (generally the children of the rich, or the children of teachers; any other profiles are very rare), and give them Fs for a good while. When the parents complain at the first parent-teacher conference, as parents are likely to do, the teachers tell them “your children have been used to getting straight A’s, without studying; now they probably won’t be getting straight A’s anymore, even if they do study diligently”.
Throughout high school, we were regularly berated by teachers for not being good enough. Made to feel like we were below the insects that eat shit.
Then, at the end of our last year, our biology teacher who had only been there for a year let us in on the fact that for most teachers at the school, this is an act, and the teachers who actually believe we are shit seem to have serious self-loathing issues. He told us that we were the best students he had ever seen, in like a whole different category that he didn’t think existed. With us, he had been able to do not only the full final year of high school course, which already never happens, but also roughly 2/3s of the standard first year of a life sciences degree at university.
He told us that while he had incredible fun with us, he was useless at this school. He decided to go teach at one of the most famous schools for disenfranchised kids instead (one that gets a big budget, but literally only problem students), a choice that for most teachers would be received like a punishment. Pretty incredible guy tbh.

Well that also kinda asian parenting think...when one child is perfect almost at anything... Adult here always talking their got it from their parent.. like when someone born at rich family, then successful at young age, it's the their parents inheritance not their own hardwork
