Think of it from their perspective. Lets say you and your boys are doing life and death adventures, highly dangerous, and one of your friends is reliable but super dumb. Youre going after a demon king that you know can influence others' minds, you get separated and when you find your dumb friend he's saying wait guys I think this demon king is different, lets just put our weapons down. What are you gonna think, there's no save and load in real life.

To be fair they came in after the evil possessed armor and they know its evil and moves on its own so they are playing it safe since they dont know if it has the powers of a demon king or the hero or worst both. Hesitating could mean one of them dies and they are friends for a long time and it doesnt help that the dumbest one in the group is on our heroes' side, it might make them even more assured that they are in the right since she's usually spouting nonsense

I personally felt that goblin slayer got a party so fast in the regular run and his reputation was a solo hunter, I felt like I missed out on all his badass adventures and this series is scratching that itch for me, I know he doesnt die cause this is a prequel but still intense
