Well, the ending is a proper ending as this does have 109 chapters (unlike Cheeky Angel which is missing most of its chapters, currently as I type this anyway).

This author's works are great. If you like Kyou Kara Ore Wa, you'll enjoy this. Like KKOW, the overall plot is just "Mr. Main Character(s) go through high school."
This Mr. Main Character is "A Bad Boy [Who] Drinks Tea" (literally the title lol). Thing is, he is a good boy at heart. He, and his best friend who is kinda the second main character, had a tough life and they're tough because of it; strong and confident. Mr. Main Character is terrifying at first glance and creepy when he tries to act nice... but that's because he's not used to it. He's also not used to a lot of things but he knows what he wants: to try and change enough to lead a better life.
Sure he's good at violence but last time he checked, you can't really pay for food and rent by punching people. heh.

He meets up with someone special, the Tea Ceremony Club's President; a girl who is sooooooooo committed to not being prejudgmental and unjustly cruel to others that she allows Mr. Main Character to join despite literally shaking in fear. It is interesting how well she is written because despite it being unrealistic, it is pulled off pretty well.
Yes, this is partially due to comedy, but she is well written as a character despite the initial qualities that seem shallow.

And this generally what you can expect of these characters. The only badly written characters are the bad guys... ba dum tsss.

The ending is not a hanger. Mr. Main Character understanding of himself and what he wants improves... He realizes what he really wants but struggles to allow himself to be with her because he doesn't feel worthy. This is due to his incredibly difficult upbringing which makes him feel like a monster - unlike her. She is like an angel to him... However, with help from his friends, he makes up his mind to go after her aaaaaaaaand she welcomes him. The ending is literally telling you that after eeeeeeeverything... he succeeded. Good for him. It's not as straightforward as that, obviously, but I haven't read this in like a decade.

9/10. I'm still biased, so no fair score here so shut up and read this and Kyou Kara Ore Wa, which I think is better.

I love this manga. I used to read it as it was translated and updated. Sad moment when it finally ended.

Keep in mind this is an old manga, released in 1989. This manga is from the "Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part 1" era (which came out in 1987).

Overall, the plot is about the two Mr. Main Characters starting high school and hilarity, as well as violence, ensues. The manga's overall plot features well written characters, interesting plotlines with a variety of events that are more or less serious depending on the context; and it can get really serious. Furthermore, character development and characters are generally NOT forgotten after their arc is finished. This includes introducing a middle schooler who graduates -> and joins their high school and becomes a regular character.

Still, the overall point of reading this manga is to laugh at the comedy and cheer for the "good guys" when the situation calls for it.

If this is not your cup of tea, then fair enough. I recommend reading the first arc, which demonstrates the personalities of the two leads very well, and then judging whether or not you'll want to continue.
To be honest, if you cannot tolerate Mitsuhashi, then you probably won't enjoy this.

I do love Kyou Kara Ore Wa. Over the grand scheme of things, it's just a bunch of misadventures of the two Mr. Main Characters as they go through school. It is funny, its got action, some plot lines with drama and twists, etc.
I also read this author's other works and found them nice. KKOW is still number 1, but I can recommend this author's other works...

Imagine my surprise and joy when I randomly saw this and found it to be completed. It was like "JACKPOT!" So I read it in two days and... it's a miss. Sigh. It isn't enjoyable. The author's brand of humor is present and all, but it wasn't on-point like it usually is. Sigh...

The plot is meandering, the characters are kinda weirdly written and the comedy is really basic/generic in a bad way. Like, Mr. Main Character starts off with a "I HAVE NO INTEREST IN WOMEN" but immediately falls for the titular Hiiragi upon seeing her. Fair enough I guess, but then he spends like 95% of the runtime dancing on the basic premise of "what's up with that?" and wondering if he is just a pervert - when it is obvious and clear as day from the first panel he saw her: that he likes her. He likes all of her, from head to toe, literally; but as a school kid who hasn't done this romance thingy before, he is kinda confused by the situation.
The problem is that instead of getting proper answers on this situation from his parents - who do get involved in this really early on - or his teacher, who stupidly devolves as the manga progresses -> he is just... stuck... until chapter... 83 or something. Sigh...
Much to its credit, the manga does point out that Mr. Main Character has a proper reputation and some attempts to insult him fail because "uh no, he would not do that." sigh... then like two panels later, "yeah, he is a pervert" pops up because comedy. COME ON!

The overall mystery is addressed, main baddies introduced - and dealt with - but it is badly handled. The main baddies aren't even relevant for like 85% of the run time.

So yeah uh, like 4/10 I guess. :\\

Well, 14 chapters are out right now and I did not read this whatsoever; but skimming through the description plus the comments... I think you should give this a miss.

Frankly, I was hoping someone made the snarky "the final boss is defeated by replacing the potion he'd throw with a rock" comment or something, but this manga seems to be SO BAD that no one can even make this joke; they're too busy complaining about this being bad.

For the record, the world record fastest pitch in baseball history is 170.27 km/h, so according to the title, Mr. Main Character is just throwing potions around like an above average Baseball professional.

Spoilers for what becomes of some stuff here:
1) The Qualification: Grid eventually beats all of them, gets all their growth-type gear -> gives them to his allies who eventually get the gear to Legendary -> and give them back to Grid. Grid becomes THE Blood King - ie the Vampire King -> and Marie Rose is like "Let's make a baby!" He refuses and in response, Marie Rose rips his head off I mean, she opens up blood wells which allow people to class change into vampires.
1.5) there is one he doesn't kill, an exception, but I ain't gonna say anything more.
and 2) The Skeleton: Funny enough, 1 bullies 2 and 2 heals itself. Then 2 gets an advantage in becoming an Arch Lich of sorts FIRST and first thing it does is bully 1 back for all the bullying. Then 1 eventually becomes a Death Knight. Big spoilers, yes, but I'm sooooooooo leaving out a lot of information here, so, hang around to find out.

Reading this, I feel that the Main Character's only ability is being nice. This is like a massive bullet hole in this manga's excellence.
How can I say that when there is a... really obvious other thing RIGHT THERE that shows off Mr. Main Character having another ability? Good question.

The world building is strong; the characters are well written; the writing is generally pretty good with an element of mystic - makes you wonder if supernatural elements are actually at play here or what's going on? You'd imagine the answer to this question is obvious, but it is well put together that it can leave you wondering sometimes.

So, about Mr. Main Character... sigh. I don't hate him. He is annoying and all, but he is, by definition, weak and pretty worthless. It starts off kinda okay, to be honest -> where the little middle schooler standing up for himself can have drastic effect.

Thing is, the leeway of this ends very quickly, but it is effectively the only thing used from start to finish. It gets kinda frustrating when it is the thing the plot falls back on time and time again.

With that said, I did appreciate the very finale. I know some people might think it is cheap or a cop out, but I liked it.

Honestly, 8/10. Despite the bullet hole, it is still excellent and worth a read if you're into this type of manga.

He has nothing left and is feeling miserable and defeated. As he looks around the room after his victory, he finds... something. He picks it up and a flash happens. Aaaaaaaaand he wakes up two years prior, before any war started happening.

The premise is simple: maintaining his memories, can he prevent all the tragedies that befell the world? So he sets out to get stuff done as soon as possible and the ending twist is actually crazy impressive. I do recommend reading this and trying to guess what happened through the hints that are thrown around.

Story aside, the world building, characters, etc are all fine. It is a Japanese manga so expect the usual garbage when it comes male and female interaction.Instead of being a GigaChad, walking up to his love interest and saying "I'LL MARRY YOU ONCE THE WORLD IS SAVED" -> he just... doesn't. Like dude, you've literally gone through life and death at this point; literally watched her die, so what even are you worried about?

Those stupid tropes aside, there isn't much to complain about. Say, a 7/10. I'm not IGN, as I keep reminding people because IGN ruined scores -> a 7 out of 10 is a good score.

This manhwa's lore, world building, technical and mechanical systems are all pretty good.
There is this thing that keeps popping up where Mr. Main Character is first seen - by other important characters - while he's doing that seems horrible. It's funny the first few times but I started predicting it happening and bingo!

The situation comes down to "if we take 5 minutes to explain the situation out loud, then the problems that will arise from this instance will be resolved much faster and easier."
To my delight, this is true and Mr. Main Character is like "Eh, I could do that, but I don't wanna. I WANNA FIGHT! >:D "

So, a bit of a last ditch effort pops up when "Warlock" goes back in time - put your hand down because yes it is explained. They go over it chapter 116 and the few chapters before it, before ending this work -> and Warlock is going to kill the cause of all the problems on the planet.

So, I imagine a split timeline happens where
1) Warlock succeeds
or 2) Warlock fails and dies
To be clear: we're reading number 2. Warlock failed and died, but the past has changed significantly... so... what's gonna happen?

Overall, if this work was really completed, it'd be like a 8 or even 9/10. The action sequences are pretty good, characters are well written and all that jazz.

Sadly, stupid reasons* enters stage left: The author of the novel is angry because the manhwa is more popular than the novel... so stupid. This is why the manhwa stopped at just chapter 116. It's a shame and really pathetic... lowering the score down to a 6/10 I guess? Treat it as a "canceled work" rather than a "completed work." Sigh.
Hey author, I know you'll never see this, but if you do, just realize that any chance I would give your novel a chance went out the window. I refuse to reward disgusting behavior like this and I hope anyone reading this will agree and also refuse to read the novel.

So, this work ended and if you go to Wuxia World, you can find it there under the name of "Super Genius DNA" where after the last chapter (it is not ongoing despite the status being "ongoing") -> there is an author note where the author talks about stuff. This is important for two reasons:
1) He repeats that this is science fiction, obviously.
and 2) He cites all his sources. ALL. HIS. SOURCES. There are 45 things he cites. Again, it is science fiction but some ideas are based on reality and he took these ideas from stuff and he cited his sources.

As for reading this manhwa, I think it is enjoyable. A nice solid 7/10 read; higher if you love medicine science fiction.

I'm hesitant to give it a higher score because it's a bit hard to get into since it is very technical. Bless the translators for trying to define some stuff as big explanations roll out, but the gist isn't that complicated:
Mr. Main Character is a really morally upstanding person, to the point that he jeopardizes his entire career when his boss does something morally reprehensible but legally fine. So he gets transferred to a department of the hospital where all the "troublemakers" are sent to -> something happens and now he has this "Genius DNA" thing.

What does he do? Starts working on making the impossible -> possible. This is 99% in the realm of medicine, so think of stuff like "curing cancer" or "curing glaucoma," etc.

Hand-in-hand with stuff like this is the inevitable politics and bless the author's heart for doing their best at keeping this realistic and not biased at the same time. It's not an easy balance at the best of times, so before you raise an eyebrow and start thinking nasty thoughts, hold on and let him cook.

It's not a perfect work, but it does so much well that I do recommend it. Again, might be hard to get into, so... 7/10 - which is a nice score.

So uh, even if it gets updated, this work just stopped being translated.
There is drama based on the author's decisions in the novel that soured everyone's mood and the manhua's team just... stopped. So, updated or not, this work is - as far as I know - in a cancelled stated. It's a shame since it has some pretty good stuff going for it,

"What drama," you ask? -> Mr. Main Character takes off Beiming with some long-term goal in mind... but then like, the novel just ends without bringing it up again. People LOVE Beiming, obviously, so like... yeah, drama.

So like... I did enjoy this work's comedy for quite a while - comedy is the central point and all that -> but then it starts going serious which is a weird shift but it kinda works out... then it just stopped updating. No notes of cancelation or anything, it just stops updating.
