Why was it axed? Well, you can learn from random comments under chapters 11 and 14 that this manga is straight up plagiarizing which was the reason it got axed. uh huh...
I had typed up a general plot summary but deleted it. It really wasn't interesting to discuss overall.
What I do want to discuss is something that bothers me.
If there are any writers reading this then take some notes -> there is never any real or proper doubt between characters going on. When Mr. Main Character becomes the AI of the ship, the Captain reveals herself to have a leash around his neck with a sort of "master key," so you'd imagine conflict. The manga tries to skip all that by saying "Mr. Main Character loved a girl who looks like the Captain." You know what, this isn't valid but fine, I'll pretend it is. What about literally all the other people? I don't mean them doubting him, but him doubting them.
There are exactly two person he properly doubts -> but it is strictly for plot purposes. Blargh. Ya know, ever since I read "Liar Game," I always keep an eye out for this casual but important interpersonal significant event.
Blatant and blind trust in others is something earned, not automatic -> and Mr. Main Character is full of that (the manga points it out after one person's death and changes nothing going forward) except when the plot demands it. This is bad writing in my opinion.
1/10. Give it a pass.
I enjoyed it but there is one problem: it was axed. This "completed" manhwa is in no way actually completed. A big arc ends and it rolls into the next arc, then it kinda fizzles out, which is a shame because it is pretty good.
I would give this like an 8/10 but my rules are my own rules and it would be a shame if I didn't uphold them -> in this case, halving the score.
So 4/10.
If you're unaware, going two months without any sweets whatsoever can actually be painful. Sugar withdrawal is real and it's arguably as bad as quitting some addictions. I would know, I suffered through it myself. I spent around two weeks feeling completely lethargic, lying down on my bed all day instead of just sitting on my PC and playing video games or doing anything. Good thing I was free for those two weeks and I was stubborn enough to make sure I always showered.
I'm no expert, but my understanding is:
If you quit sugar for a long-enough period of time -> a change occurs in how your body processes energy. Instead of just burning carbs, the body eventually realizes "hey, uh... this isn't enough" and starts burning fat too.
Also, you may have heard of the ketogenic diet - aka "keto" -> it is literally eating no carbs at all (sugar is a carb) and suffering until your body realizes this and starts burning fat instead of carbs.
Do your own research and stay healthy everyone!

Then like in two chapters, he explodes because Mr. Main Character marked him or some something. lol

Casual reminder that in Avatar the Last Airbender, the original reason for the Fire Nation's war was literally to promote prosperity to the entire world. Sozen looked at his festivals and thought "Why is anyone suffering from poverty? Why can't everyone enjoy a party like this? The fire nation is so amazing that... ya know, we literally CAN go around the world and help everyone!" Aaaaaaaaaaaand it resulted in a world-wide-war that lasted over a century.

I'm aaaaaaaaall for it.

What is it about? It's not a villainess plot, that's for sure. It's about Elissa and Ginger. They get married due to arranged reasons and most of the runtime is "here are two broken people."
As a child, Elissa gave her heart to her father and his mistress (who popped up with her two daughters after Elissa's mother died). The result was getting her heart stamped on and living a miserable and lonely life, trying her best to avoid dying.
Meanwhile, as a child, Ginger's parents were the worst and he wasn't loved by them at all. A massive void formed in his heart and he tried to fill it with simple pleasures, buuuuuuuut as the story goes -> he was still miserable.
So, metaphorically speaking, we have two broken characters
One character has her heart injured and she is filled with pain and fear
The other character has locked his heart up in a prison of his own making for self-protection
I'll say it again, most of the run time - around 80ish chapters - is character development. The payoff is akin to seeing level 99 characters kicking level 50 enemy butt. It is awesome to see.
If you're thinking "it sounds like it's slow" and yeah, it is pretty slow overall but it makes up for it with good story telling, well written characters and all that stuff. I felt decently engaged and despite having 8 more completed comics downloaded on my phone, I didn't want to drop it for a while and come back... that's a plus. There were times where I thought "they shouldn't be hung up on this. I mean, come on!" but still, overall, it wasn't terrible.
To be clear: the context of the two characters being incredibly broken and shutting themselves off makes this work. Without it, I would've quit early on.
Finally, the art. It is "satisfactory." From start to end, it gets better but generally hangs around the "satisfactory" levels of quality -> and then after 3 years, this manhwa got an epilogue where the art quality changes drastically.
Oh, and if you're wondering about the gender bender thing -> yeah, the two leads swap bodies; a real "Freaky Friday" situation. It isn't just for comedy but it is a major part of the plot and the development.
Important spoilers, so be wary:
Overall, a nice solid work. Around a 6 or 7 out of 10. Again, it's good.

Yes. Bow before her! lol
Dude. Denji. You were a slave being treated like a dirty disposable napkin. You had dreams of just "getting normal food." Even if you CHOOSE to inflict that kind of pain on people, you would literally not be able to. You're horny and have the power to literally destroy cities and yet you've never forced yourself onto anyone. Don't let that devil deceive you!
There is nothing about the Witch Doctor Class being some sort of FFF-class. If anything, the earliest interactions point out just how strong it is where upon leveling up, you get a skill point or two but the more advanced/stronger classes get more skill points -> and the Witch Doctor gets FIVE... these manhwa authors don't know balance in their games, huh? lol
I would like to take a moment here and say "while it doesn't seem axed, it probably was." A lot of things are established, abilities to unlock, bosses to beat, dungeons to conquer, etc -> and while the plot does wrap up and it is technically complete, all these plot points are just plainly forgotten. Maybe that's just bad writing and not the ax, but whatever.
What is this manhwa about? It's about some guy playing the standard VR video game. He is in a party where the average level is around level 900 or whatever. They're fighting some big-bad final boss sort of figure and at the finale, he gets betrayed. Instead of just... ya know, dying and respawning, maybe just posting the recording of everything that happened in the raid -> he rages and hates on the guy killing him - who is just a smug jerk, plain and simple -> so the evil final boss reaches out to him and offers him a second chance -> and in the heat of the moment, he accepts it.
With that, time rewinds back a decade. Put your hand down, they didn't explain how a video game can rewind time like that. What did he accept exactly? Those details are explained towards the end but to be honest, the end is such a mess that I was pretty lost. Following some usual tropes, the game runs on a super powerful AI that almost immediately starts to break out of the company's control. I guess it is doing all this for some reason? Again, I feel like there was a lot more going into this concept/idea -> but it was abandoned to rush to an ending.
All that aside, a main focus of this manhwa is the action and combat. It starts off trying to give you info and details but it never does it well. Also, it is worth noting that out of nowhere, characters just starting using the same skill literally 99x with no explanation given. One item Mr. Main Character gets gives him guaranteed crits after 100 casts AND boosts crit damage by 400% -> and like... it's just kinda there. Frankly, fights have the "Overpowered MC" logic without him being overpowered. Honestly, this is one of the bigger disappointments of reading this manhwa.
Ya know what is interesting? The worldbuilding. It is really well done and some characters - including NPCs - are pretty awesome. The progression, quests, equipment and all that jazz is good and pretty well put together buuuut it kinda just falls flat.
tl;dr: 5/10
If VRMMO manhwa is your jam, read this. If not, give it a pass.
