If I had a nickel for every time I've read one of these Chinese series and the male main character has been raped while unconscious and it's been played for a gag, I'd have like 20-25 cents, why is this a trope.

I appreciate one of these series that has a king that feels kingly, like he's not blinded by greed with the lust for power, or a man that's ruled for several decades while simultaneously not being able to stop the basic political machinations of the main character or even grasp them. He's just an old man that can see the way the world is going and is far too tired and far too weary to do anything alone anymore. really personifies "heavy is the head that wears the crown"

It's more like he pulls a Clark Kent, a Kent Clark, a Klark Cent, a Cent Klark, a Kal-el, an El-Kal, a Kel-al, and an Al-kel, all without changing anything on his face except maybe taking off glasses, putting on a monocle putting on a hoodie and maybe a top hat. I can only suspend the disbelief so far.

Well a lot of places have Netflix, I mean both of those series are foreign to Americans but they were still incredibly popular in America.

I've never understood how this man has like a dozen something secret identities that are all incredibly famous even though the only time I've seen him actually change his appearance for an identity was in the first chapter and that was when he wasn't playing one of the famous people. Man just puts on a top hat and is like I"I'm a criminal mastermind now" or just puts on a hoodie and is like "I'm an assassin now" and somehow no one but the genius detective has cracked this.

Yeah that's kind of my problem with this whole genre of manga, very rarely do they try to make the villains interesting or developed or give them any kind of motivation other than "because they're evil" and while that is enough for a John wick movie to be fun, for something that could span potentially dozens of chapters, I'm going to need more than that. Like seriously 34 people got together to burn down a house and kill one little girl "For the lolz" that is some death cult s*** and I'm going to need an explanation on how that became a thing that was possible in a modern society without any negative repercussions.

Being fully caught up on it I can say it certainly has a similar energy to gintama, but is a little less absurd, and if I had to describe the series this series sense of comedy most reminds me of it would actually probably be saiki K,

This guy's like hisoka but if he just outright said it, instead of just being really creepy and vague about what he wants.

Tell me about it, when they started mentioning the shinsengumi I was looking at them with a checklist, and gintama is the sole reason I know any of their names.

I respect any villain that fully knows when to give up the ghost and DIIIIP

Honestly at this point whenever a series goes on break my only hope is that it comes back, and doesn't completely self-destruct, especially ever since legendary moonlight sculpture got straight canceled ( after changing artist from one season to the next i might add)

I know I've heard the name in another series but it is either not particularly used often or usually translated differently.

That's because I feel like some if not most Japanese writers have a tendency of characters not saying what they mean for extended periods of time like the readers have to earn an actual emotional interaction it can't just happen because one of the people in the equation is suddenly like 30 years wiser they have to be like 30 years wiser plus like a year of traveling

Oh how often this sentiment is uttered when reading manga or watching anime. Oh how often the wish is disregarded.
