Yeah the contrast between my recollection of what MapleStory was and how grim and gritty this is and how f***** up the monsters all look had me thoroughly confused for the first couple chapters as to how this was related to that, it would be like somebody telling me berserk was a Dragon quest manga.

If I had a nickel for every time a Korean or Japanese series tried to sell me the visage of a friendly slaver with no judgment passed on him, other than that he was a savvy businessman, I'd have like 20 nickels, why is this a trope over there.

I love that the comment section is questioning his attack strategies, but purely from a gamer efficiency point of view.

I'd say that's fair, I think maybe the arcs limited entertainment value was never justified by its utility in the story (to me) and as a result I kind of wish it was either presented a different way or cut and the things that it accomplished stretched out into the next arc instead.

My main problem was that the whole flow, tension and movement of the fight was going towards that end so when it's just suddenly not there in favor of more hot potatoing of the villain it just felt so anticlimactic that even now nothing bad can happen to our main crew only side characters and only the ones that mostly do nothing, normally killing the mentors a flat move because of the tropiness of it, but in this series with so few deaths it would actually go against the grain if they would have killed him,(hell they killed his sidekick and I basically forgot that dude existed until right this moment) it would even have been one more mark on why it'd be easy for Deku to kill the villains, he'd want nothing more than to kill these people that took away his hero, but he wants to talk it out instead because he holds his principles that closely (which granted is a little spider-man-y but so is deku's whole loadout of powers so whatever). Typing it out I'm realizing that's why Naruto has jiraiya killed before the pain Arc, specifically for this type of impact.

Honestly the two biggest notes on the last arc could be simplified to "stop yapping so much" and "keep it simple", if I had to add a third it would be "cut some of these characters out of this Arc, it is already so long we don't need all of them showing up" and as far as Cyclops goes I was just thinking of ultimate cyclops when they had him be edgy and to go join the brotherhood because he felt ignored, and it was supposed to come off as this cool "I'm thinking for myself" move but came across as a teenager having a tantrum, but honestly just giving Deku more dark traits as the series progressed would have worked sort of like a black suit Spider-Man thing, with that ark being where that comes to a head.

I think the classmates ending the arc and made the whole arc feel so corny to me, like I can't enjoy him trying to do things more independently because it feels like he's trying too hard to be dark and cool, that combined with its short length makes the whole incident seem out of place and a unnatural, like I can't explain it any other way then it feels like whenever marvel comics tries to have Cyclops do something by himself and look real dark and cool, it just never works for me because the character, in their foundation, is the antithesis to those two things.

It's honest and to the point but I'll hear someone say something like "fairy tale ended" and then I'll see something like this update for like another 2 years after that and just get confused, whatever else you say about them the man is on his grind.

I like a lot of the visuals in that Arc but it just felt really out of place for This character to be the one that does that, like this man is Mr teamwork, at least 80% of the fights he's involved in in the series are pure teamwork, he basically got a power boost and then immediately was like "I can do this s*** solo," got dog walked, bailed out and then rapidly spiraled all for surprisingly short period, Before his entire class came to tell him how much they mean to him like an after school special, I think my problem is that it just felt corny for me. Either integrating elements of a into previous arcs or just making the arc longer would have honestly fixed it a bit, that and having just one or two classmates show up to chew him out instead of the whole class.

I will give you the last point, as for the other two he honestly could have realized both those points with even a little self-reflection on his previous experiences, like a chapter or two of him just talking with his classmates as they're thinking about what they're going to do for the last Arc would have cleanly been able to establish both those things for certain, and you could honestly just establish those things during the last arc as lessons he learned and I wouldn't have blinked twice. Like he's introduced to us as someone who always overthinks things but ironically he never thinks things through.(Which is on purpose), like at the start of the series he has "rely on others" on lock, but only because he finds himself unreliable, so by the end "rely on others because they are reliable not because you aren't" is the thing he learns, but I think that Arc just feels weird to me because it is the whole class, it could have honestly just been bakugo and todoroki coming to chew him out and it would have worked much better as they are characters he actually kind of Taught lessons about recklessness, self over reliance, and teamwork, like the whole class showing up combined with the short length just made that Arc feel really cheesy to me and dark Deku feel really try hard (which to be fair it was quite literally him trying really hard)
tho personally I think that the adaptation to the New quirks would have worked better for me if they just introduced those quirks over a longer period, like as things he unlocks as he Masters OFA instead of things he rapidly gets when OFA starts talking to him.

I have feared the day they get human forms, since I first started this series because the art style of this series and the way these creatures are drawn is already so close to furry bait sometimes I don't need them tempting fate.

I'd say we do it a bit less thoroughly in the south(or at least Georgia), we heard all about Germany, I don't know if it's because Japan's an ally now but we only got some vagaries about the stuff Japan did, like they told us about Kamikaze bombing and Pearl harbor and about how we nuked them and about how we helped them post war, we got mentions of the Rape of Nanking we did not go into details, (we didn't talk about the widespread sex slavery, the widespread regular slavery, the government condoned human trafficking, Japan's goal essentially being european style colonization of the mainland, the minor genocides they performed on small island populations south of Japan, the let's say... excessive human experimentation where some of the things they did just seemed like doing f***** up things for the sake of it because I don't understand what medical value some of those experiments had, we don't even really talk about s*** we did like the firebombing campaigns or the island hopping offensives, like the curriculum was kind of bare bones) no I had to learn about all that stuff way later on my own time, but we got every dark detail on stuff in the Holocaust, but I think that's more so American education kind of caring less about stuff outside of the western spear of influence (autocorrect changed sphere to spear and honestly...it fits) just like how we only acknowledge some of the fucked up s*** the American government has done, and it's really only the stuff we either got outright caught for in 4K, or stuff we want to Pat ourselves on the back for being better than now, and occasionally stuff we're Low Key proud of when we really shouldn't be.

Either that or industry editors just tell them not to bother with it cuz you're not going to increase sales by adding more foreigners I guess, since they are going for a primarily Korean audience so they mostly want to see stuff Koreans will readily and easily identify and recognize, and quite frankly immigrant populations in Korea and Japan have never been large enough ( excluding Americans and (mostly American and European) tourists) for the everyday person to be particularly familiar with them.
Additionally I notice similarly weird depictions of the Vietnamese, Mongolians and occasionally even the thai, coming out of China and Korea that just never tracks with me given how close those countries are and how much intermingling I know happens between some of them, and then I remember that racism exists everywhere and the flavors you get in other places can be wholy unfamiliar from the ones you're used to.
Like how Chinese and Korean stories often shit on the Japanese too, but at least that's because of things they did during world war II (that they've mostly never apologized for and for an uncomfortably long time refused to acknowledge they did. Real rough shit too I'm talking stuff that Nazis had been on record saying we're barbaric vile and cruel) so at least there's historically recent bad blood I guess? Maybe there's just a lot more minor things that happen that I will just never know about between populations that identify with those countries, like how I doubt most people on the planet give a s*** about or even know about State rivalries in America.

The continual gag of shenanigans escalating while Kenji's just doing other stuff off screen only for him to have to shut it down somehow when he gets back has been one of the series greatest strong points.

For similar reasons I always wonder why India gets shafted in series like this, as they have just a straight-up massive population,(like at least 1/8 of the human population I believe) so if superpowers get allocated proportionally there should be like a dozens of s-classes(or whatever the equivalent for the series) from India like they always have a lot from China and the US always has the most (or second most depending on how "pro-korea hoorah" the series is) which at least is usually because we just buy people off from other countries instead of having a proportionally high amount, which tracks seeing as that's how we get some of our best scientists, doctors engineers and all manner of other people, but it's always like one person from India and they're always on some dhalsim shit either being a guru or some magic future prophet (and don't even get me started on how these series always treat Africa, the only other place I see Africa treated like this is... most western media? huh... maybe this trend denotes some underlying problem? Nah. probably not.) like a lot of these series will give Japan a lot of people too, which granted is because they just need villains and in America you use terrorists or the cartel, while in Korea you use gangsters or "the shifty Japanese"
