Unfortunetly, 1 million deaths isn't a lot, and it can depend on how you look it at, especially proportionally. If the entire world had 10 trillion people for example, 1 million deaths would hardly be a lot. Just like how 1 death is 'a lot' in a village of 30 people or so, but harldy is a dent in a population of billions, trillions, or even tens or hundreds of trillions.

Let's be honest, in a world with Gods and Dragon, 1 million doesn't seem like a whole lot, especially when you have battles between superpowers that can affect tens or hundreds of thousands of people as just aftermath...

I think you forgot it was 2 million in TOTAL that were grabbed (by what the game said at first, like 2.6 million or something like that, it wasn't as big as it should have been). And they haven't grabbed more, they just keep the exact same people going, so in the first round 1 million died, then about another 500k, and honestly it's just going down because there are less players. (I dont know why it wasnt something like 2 billion, it may have been a translation or a typo because it WAS different numbers in 2 different chapters, even when no one or only half died).
