        You'll see close sibling interactions like this when they go through some serious shit. For example the older sibling had to take a parental role, sharing the tragic loss of a very close family member, saving a sibling from serious bullying/some other domestic abuse, fighting to stave off starvation together, one of the siblings are living on borrowed time (cancer,heart problems, etc), etc. I have seen this multiple times and it does happen.   I think you forgot it was 2 million in TOTAL that were grabbed (by what the game said at first, like 2.6 million or something like that, it wasn't as big as it should have been). And they haven't grabbed more, they just keep the exact same people going, so in the first round 1 million died, then about another 500k, and honestly it's just going down because there are less players. (I dont know why it wasnt something like 2 billion, it may have been a translation or a typo because it WAS different numbers in 2 different chapters, even when no one or only half died).

    I went back and check chapter 1 it said 1.8 billion parcipated, the numbers people who survived is half for the 1st round so only 900m then 2nd round everyone live and moving on for round 3 its 1/4 survive.

        Hopefully everyone involved in this discussion line will see this but it’s 2.8 billion from a certain age range that were turned into players and it’s further broken down by country, then region, then city, county and district so ultimately it goes from a few billion to only a few million per area. That’s why there seems a drastic difference from original to current but it’s much more clearly portrayed in the next chapter as to what is going on.
