As with out any context they sound exactly the same.
For Example if I just would say The Knight/Night without any context what would I mean ?

Which makes her actions make even less sense then.
Also I would try to think more pragmatic I would use her against the father know tha she is exposed.

Also I blame English for this confusion as Palestine Palpatine and Palatine sound very similar.
