I don't think you know what the word "glorifying" means. The MiL wanting them to stay together is a valid perspective, it's not glorifying the cheating. The mom doesn't want her son to be hurt or publicly ashamed by having to go through a divorce. I personally think it's a wrong opinion but I get why she wants them to work through it. Also her being from an older generations where people stay in marriages despite all sorts of problems. Again, does not glorify the cheating.

Your theory about the husband is laughably wrong. First of all, the story does not have to center on the cheating victim (this plays into your whole "omg the MC must have consequences and the man is the victim" analysis). Second of all, the husband reflects on the relationship after the divorce, realizing that they kind of got pushed into the marriage, made lots of compromises, and things weren't really working out due to issues including whether they wanted kids. His story closes with him emotionally moving on to his coworker who he says he likes and is looking forward to going on a date with her. Yes he was cheated on, yes that is horrible, but I think it's great that they show that, contrary to your perspective on it, being cheated on and getting a divorce does not have to be a life ending incident. Life goes on! The fact that you're so obsessed with "fallout" and "consequences" (conveniently ignoring the mental strain, guilt, judgement from society, and other consequences the characters deal with) is proof that you're totally missing the point of the story. Cheating is bad. It is also a human thing that happens all of the time. The story is a window into how people might deal with that and how life goes on. It's also about how, despite how we may try to tie ourselves to other people, that connection may suddenly disappear. The family doesn't revile the MC because they understand that humans are flawed and they see the humanity in MC. Eri tells MC off and then cheats with a married man!

Observing the human condition is not glorification of human shortcomings. Not every story is about perfect people, or about punishing ultimate evil. Some stories are mirrors into the ugly mix of good and evil in humanity. I hope you can at least try to look at the story from a different perspective and understand where i'm coming from.

I explicitly said it is not okay to cheat. No one in the manga said it was ok either. I think you're extrapolating a lot to try to justify your perspective. It's fine to be upset with the MC for cheating on her husband and dragging it out. I don't think her conduct is ever glorified or condoned. But not all stories have to have a MC who is a perfect or even very good person.

The story is interesting because MC is generally a good person and has to deal with the fact that she made some very hurtful choices. Bringing the husband to the cookout was weird and awkward, I don't think anyone reading that would think it was cool. In fact, I think it's supposed to be unsettling.

The story deals with people who are generally otherwise good people that make bad decisions. That's an incredibly human thing to showcase. I disagree with your premise that by showing ugly, hurtful sides of humanity means that the author was glorifying the behavior. There's no evidence of that.

i guess i missed the part where the cheating was justified. if anything it was presented in a neutral-negative light. sure the new relationship might work out in the future, but that's a very normal and human thing to happen. sometimes people aren't meant to be together, and the next relationship works out. of course the cheating is wrong, the mangaka never tries to defend that part of it. i just don't really know how punishing the cheater would matter or be helpful

isn't he going to go on a date with his colleague once she gets a divorce? i think the point of the story is that life and relationships are complicated. also what's MC supposed to do with her ex now that they're divorced? what do you think she SHOULD do?

not every story is good vs evil, where those who sin are justly punished. sometimes it's about exploring the messy sides of humanity and how life is not neat or black and white. also consider the emotional turmoil the characters go through (all of them). guilt, anger, frustration, sadness, societal judgment. MC made mistakes, owned up to them, suffered the fallout with her ex husband and his family, and is now dealing with her job falling apart (and how her mistakes will negatively impact the kids she has been a role model to and trying to help). what would you prefer to see, karmic justice where she becomes homeless? her ex yelling at her?

Once the main ship sails you generally don't have to worry about love triangles so i think that might be part of it. Plus you're already satisfied with one of the ships sailing so the rest is just icing on the cake

so he's finally reached the point where he appreciates kujirai (the non-alcoholic or "knock-off" version)

also i think of the living, originals, they can only see kowloon if they NEED kowloon for some reason or another, which is how youmei, who has never been there, can see it, along with guen/gwen, kudou, etc.

as a side note i wonder how many residents are real/originals. we'll probably never know because it doesnt matter that much to the plot but from videos about kowloon i've watched, it seemed like lots of the residents had a real affinity for the slum, and some protested its destruction even though they all got paid pretty handsomely to move out
