Ik reading stories like this means you have to have a sense of suspense disbelief or belief, but why the hell are middle schoolers talking about the state of the world like they're adults. Like, I'm all for kids getting more informed about the world, but this conversation about resources depleting or opposition parties is something I wouldn't expect from a kid, maybe a high schooler, but not a middle schooler.

But in that situation where he spent years there it makes sense he'd jump to the demon king or lord cursing him. Either way the author is weird for just outright killing the parents when they just got introduced and there won't be any connection to the plot. Felt like an extreme last minute decision.
