Ive only seen it on lions and other felines but blinking while approaching mostly means that you come in peace, and maintaining eye contact while approaching means that you're on your guard and coming to challenge

This was axed but still a satisfying end, although it gets quite complicated in the last few chapters I got the gist of it.

The writter was trying way too many things and it felt like a mess, so that's probably why it got axed.
