They could call it any other name and the concept would still be the same. He took responsibility of her as soon as he saved her. Why would he toss her aside now? Would that not be much worse? They called it special slave but that just means being a guarantor for someone whom you aren't related to but are still responsible for.

the dude used deer to find a shallow path in a fast moving river. Even the MC is not that clever. That is ingenuity and adaptability that would most definitely lead to more discovery, especially tactics unknown to you being used against you.

They did this thing where they build up tension to an event you can clearly see is coming. I was like oh here we go, they are gonna get everyone in their feels by showing the kids and what they have been up to. get them into an normal routine then BAM! more tragedy. I dunno if they will get killed, but if they do, i will drop this manga here and then. It would serve absolutely no purpose to do that.
