Oh you sweet summer child. People can and do perform terrible acts, especially out of hatred and paranoia. Would the whole party getting killed definitely happen? Maybe not, but their lives would likely be ruined. We've only seen the one evil spirit caught and killed so far, and that was by the barbarians. Who knows how severe the humans and other races' reactions might be.
As for sharing information, he doesn't want to reveal that he's an evil spirit too. He thinks it's too big a risk. Could he do more, sure, but he's not that selfless.

Guy claimed to know the labyrinth well, so presumably he played, but the first thing mc saw was someone else get found out to be an evil spirit like himself and immediately murdered. Hard to risk yourself for another after that.  Guy didn't act like a barbarian and when somebody inevitably found him out they would look at those around him with scrutiny. Or maybe just kill the whole party outright to be sure. So giving him charity and advice was the best he was willing to do for the guy.
