A skeleton is not a human, it's not a living biological being. It's either a inanimate object or a undead existence. Both of which lack the "biology" of sex. What genitals in front of the waist and hormones do you imagine course through Skel?

You might be able to determine what "sex" someone was through a skeleton, past tense.

Also there is a margin of error even with that past tense sex determination, especially if you don't know what population the skeleton is from, like our MC. Also you assign great scientific accuracy to a artist of a comic. From my experience these people tend to not be much keen on scientific accuracy, even when it comes to the plot itself much-less the art style. You know most of these eyes are drawn way too big for the body and other facial proportions that are typically way off. But you are pointing to a scientific dissertation or something in this case to determine a insignificant plot point (as what "sex" MC is or is not, is ENTIRELY IRRELEVANT)...
