Tone shift isn't exactly sudden except for Mai. It was a number of chapters ago we learned it was a possession and could figure the ramifications of that when GM is a good person.

You mean Ghost Moms decision to give back the life of the person xhe's possessing? It wasn't anyone elses decision but GM's.

But as I said before Mai should have been informed of the possessing thing and given time to process this before being told of any marriage that was too soon without any dating etc.

Not capable of marrying? It's simple, you stand in front of a authority who can marry and say "I do"

I didn't say there wasn't corruption, but are you saying every single one of them is corrupt to the last person down to their last bone so that all laws are meaningless? If not, even for keeping up appearances, they'd have to do something about this. Especially if it was made public knowledge.

Well they half explain it in the next chapter but I don't think it is sufficient to justify them getting married

Sure but that was badly done. Tell Mai first that it's a possession not a reincarnation and give Mai time to adjust to that before you spring a marriage to not mom on Mai when they weren't even dating.

Also date at least a bit before marriage, marriage is too big a step for such casual acquaintances, even if it helps someone move on faster

There is no reason to think a another Ivy is being planned, but even if there was, it would still pale in comparison to the child torture murder racket. I see no reason to think anyone against stopping this highly evil illegal activity, would change their mind if they caught and proved the guilt of the people behind it.

"crime is no longer need to supplement city funds "

A premise of regular people not involved in the evil shit still benefiting from it has yet to be demonstrated despite it being claimed over and over again in this thread.

As you say it's a matter of scale, the evil operation is big and poorly hidden. Even a modest crack down could save alot of innocent lives very quickly

Ivy investigation and proof would likely take longer and with no real benefit and maybe some drawback. This particular evil hypocritical politician aside, the anti-floration movement is important. They are already being murdered by the government for lacking money, children included. Exposing Ivy being caused by the ant-floration movement would demoralize them to too much of a extreme. This capitalist governments too fucked up and evil to go completely unchecked. Forget the Ivy perpetrators and focus on this fucked up evil crime syndicate and the countless tortured and murdered children that could easily be saved.

should we focus on the terrorist

You got a stupid definition of "terrorist". Murdering protestors including small children for lacking money is a real terrorist act.

Besides the language of the comic suggests that MC is not hesitating stopping the evil child torture murder because of lack of ability to stop it, but because 'what might happen to Soddam and Gomara if they do'

At least those terrible attack names weren't said out-loud, I think.

Ivy wasn't specifically used to murder people (for the most part), just turned into a monster that killed people, instead of being murdered themselves for fucking furniture for the rich like so many others small children were. Also Ivy is dead, (don't forget Ivy was a small child xir self with a valid axe to grind even if most of the people that took the blunt of that weren't at fault) no one else is going to be harmed by Ivy. The child torture murder thing is ongoing.

The amount of people Ivy killed before getting killed is probably dwarfed by no more than a few years of this child torture murder operation. Also people likely suffered much less being killed by Ivy than children being tied up in a farm with who knows what being done to them as they wait for their doom. Children killed in torture murder farm look at Ivys victims and would likely say "lucky", especially as as Ivys victims seemed to live good lives before then, considering they were targeted because of candy.

How does punishing the anti-floranation people responsible for Ivy effect the child torture murder business? In fact if the anti-flornation faction suffers reputation damage as a whole things like this terrible child torture murder farm can more easily go undetected. It's bad enough they basically executed the protestors for protesting and lacking money, including children maybe also to make furniture for the rich. Maybe MC wouldn't know about it if not for Ivy for one.

If you say Ivy was because of this evil shit, you almost make it sound like making Ivy was a good thing.

It's highly illegal (the cutting down part anyway) so reporting it to the correct and not corrupt authorities is a good start. Colleagues for one could help, if MC told them.

I don't recommend this. I dislike the bad world building and bad logic the characters use and other things.

This comic is a accidental commentary on the evils and inefficiencies of capitalism. Because the commentary is accidental, it's not very good commentary.

Seems like MC is going to let the child torture murder thing go. The the Ivy thing pales by comparison to that morale and legal travesty.

Taking off follows...

well yeah, I fully expect MC will reunite with the kid at some point, even if no longer a kid by then, if the comic lasts long enough

If it's that glass knife assassin, Master Monk doesn't stand a chance. Hopefully not on the boat, that would leave a bad taste for readers so I think not. With a ocean and a unknown monastery between them it should be safe. The tone also suggested they have departed from the story safely.

"Also someone Jang Geon actually knows? "

Seems like it's Geons brother.

The moment you know you are fighting someone who can't die, retreat. Aside from anything else you'll absolutely lose in a battle of attrition, obviously.
