Rather than just saying yeah, it gets sad without saying what happens, like a few of the novel readers, ever so happy to impose their sense of superiority upon comic readers, while not even being able to explain anything, choosing to make you believe they don't want to rather than can't, instead, here's the answer and the why.
Yes, the story gets very sad and depressing. Not called the war arc for nothing. Arthur's father dies in the war, Tessia's mother and father are executed because they betrayed Dicathen to save Tessia, as her beast core was corrupted, and IIRC they were convinced that Agrona was the only one who could cure it, so they gave him free entry to their country, but Agrona, ever the scumbag, decides that he does not want them and they are executed by him. Who could have seen that coming? As a bonus, her entire country of Elenoir is razed to the ground by a soldier of the leader of the Asura, who decides to pin it on the Alacryians and make a martyr out of them.
It does get better in the future, when everyone moves on from the lives lost after the war is over.
As for the guy above, I think this guy's talking about Arthur finding out that the big bad of the entire story, Agrona (the leader of Alacrya -- the continent from which Arthur's enemies hail -- that are attacking Dicathen), caused his reincarnation, but failed to put his soul in a proper vessel due to Sylvie's interference... Yep, you did not read that wrong. Turns out that Arthur, his entire life, had been protected by Sylvie -- who had been with Arthur from the moment he was born, as they are connected by Fate -- to make sure that Agrona never got hold of Arthur.
On a lighter note, in case you're curious, he hasn't had a daughter yet, but the love interest is confirmed to be Tessia, despite what the people huffing loads of copium will have you believe.
I don't have a problem with them learning from actual art. Any attempt to slow down AI progression is meaningless. AI WILL take over jobs like those, whether people like it or not, as unfortunate as it may be. AI art is almost already indistinguishable from human art, and sooner or later, it will be indistinguishable.
MC is gay. Marries a dude at the end of the story.
The female leads, if you're curious:
Surprised they got those VAs, though.
