Why haven't the merfolk gone to war. They definitely have some major power as the (presumably) only sentient race that lives in the ocean. They should definitely be able to do some stuff to water and weather that could be problematic for some kingdoms, especially ports cities that kidnap merfold in general. Sounds to me like some lazy writing that just went through cuz it had the least amount of info, therefore no loopholes for people to locate

It started good, don't get me wrong. But it just spiraled into a cliché and abstract series. It's almost like every other chapter was a "lesson" on something. Just felt like a chore to read and overall bland with no real feel to it. The series as a whole was mostly surrounding the female mc, and they never received reality checks, everything was way too easy. There wasn't any character development and the whole series didn't give me any oomph
