half is even pushing it, if you have lost 1/3 of your army you already lost that battle. if enemies dont stop after they killed 1/4th or 1/3rd of your army it means you fight to the tooth and nail taking as many enemies with you as possible. which winning armies will avoid at any costs. i think the manga kingdom portays this brilliantly.
