Why? Because the other people eating the apples said monsters won't attack you if you eat the apples. Why does she know that people die after eating the apples? Why isnt it public knowledge that people die after eating the apples?
Thats not homework, if you know the answer and take the chance to just let people figure it out on their own they could die. You can't compare their situation to a basic test from formal education.
This is life and death. Not a test. There's a guild and seasoned adventurers. If new adventurers aren't researching the floors then it's because there is no public information available to begin with. That's next to impossible considering that she and many other higher ranking adventurers know the information. That means no one is making information public.
There's no point in keeping critical stuff like that as secret information. It's not even a competition thing. Spartan education like that only works over the corpses of the many people that make mistakes so that the survivors learn from them. Like a history lesson.
All information should probably be told in the context of a situation where eating an apple can get you killed. 'Don't eat the apple or you'll die' is a cause and effect scenario that really shouldn't be gatekept under the guise of "figuring things out on your own".
Tldr;
When you make a single mistake you die, so don't make a mistake and be more than extremely cautious and question everything and everyone around you, is the only lesson to be taught by figuring things out on your own when a goddamn apple can take you out. 😅

Just discovering it as you go is foolish.The dungeon is testing adventurers, but she's not the dungeon. She could easily share the information. Hell if it's common knowledge amongst high level adventurers, the info should be provided by the guild. There are no books about monsters or floor information? Then word of mouth is even more important. How else did people spread the misinformation about eating the fruits. If there were consequences known before hand, nobody would eat them.

Tldr~ it's silly to have people trial and error in life and death situations when you have key information that could help them.

Same reason why going to school doesnt prepare children for actual adulthood with useful information that you'd actually utilize. Would be nice if information was shared instead of gatekept for the sake of obtaining answers on our own.
