I see your point... but it does feel like a lot of these people do it to themselves.

So many people calling this trash and dropping it, but the only problem is the slow updates.

A few things:
1) MC didn't train for 100 years - he trained for 6 months and got several of his combat skills up to Apex level.
2) MC was subdued by his friend, whom he trusted. He who strikes first is often the victor - that's how powerful a surprise attack can be.
3) Having Apex tier combat skills doesn't prevent a sneak attack from a trusted ally.
4) MC doesn't need to fight a villain of the week to make this a good comic. Actually, action-overload ruins actual plotting for stories.
5) No-one's mentioned MC not using his guard/defence/shield skill to stop the surprise attack... probably because that would cause their thought processes to realise the power of the surprise attack.
6) This plot has been building up for as long as he's been in this new city, but now that the action part of it is coming along, readers are bitching about no plot and a lack of action.

I just reread the past few chapters to find where I was up to because this website keeps removing my reading progress (read chapters turn red but, when I let things stack, they turn blue again and I keep losing where I was up to!).

It's pretty generic but will hold your attention, however, I lowered the rating by .5 because of some paedo vibes.

So, what's it actually about?
When the MC is let go by his team because they're moving on to a tier too high for them to babysit him, there are no hard feelings. MC is given a small county to rule over in a fantasy Japan and, being a fantasy European, there should be plenty of fish--out-of-water jokes or problems, but the author chooses to ignore them, cranking any humour and tension down in the process.
Instead, we get a kind of, The Sims: the Unofficial Manga, in which the MC - who had previously decided there was no point in starting over, using his training skills to raise a new adventure party - instead raises the skills of people in his domain... so that they can then become an adventure party!

Yeah, this one has lame moments like that throughout, but it's harmless for the most part and somehow managed to keep me engaged... despite the MC acting like a colossal virgin when just about every female in the story wants him to jump her bones!

So, if bland stories starring asexual, slightly insecure but completely goal-focused MCs are your thing: go for it.
For the rest of us, this is always one excuse away from getting dropped and pretty frustrating in the romance - or plain fucking - department.

I've read all 58 chapters uploaded to this site as I type this (31/05/25), but I can't see a reason to keep it bookmarked, so I'll drop it for now... and maybe... maybe, read it some more in the future, should I happen across it and it's completed?

A sad, manic depressive randomly meets a "VTuber" who's run away from home; rather than leave her on the streets to be hassled by men, he agrees to let her stay at his place... but she's an under-age school child and this is supposed to be a romance.
Yes, all the ingredients to make something pretty fucked up.

I tried to stick with it to find out why she ran away - there wasn't any romance between them, at that point - but an encounter with the girl's dad and him not seeming to care about her living with an almost 30 year old fucking dude was a blow to my sanity.

I don't know who this shit's aimed at, but it's not responsible, paedo-hating adults, parents, fans of psychological dramas or even romance readers!
I'm sure there are sick nonces out there wanking off over the idea of the teenage girl getting her anus pounded while she cries out, "Fuck me harder, Daddy!", because they've watched too much XHamster and don't interact in real life with real people, and, unless you're one if them (in which case, I hope you buy yourself a rope and find a tree to swing from), you probably won't be able to suffer this either.

Yeah, that dad's reaction is enough cause for me to drop this - it's not good anyway, but the whole under-age thing disturbs me.

The story is generic and, thankfully, the Morie thing is the misplaced affection of a child that is just a minor part of it, but it's still very uncomfortable (especially the behaviour of the bikini armour skank).
