Axed or not, I dunno. I don't remember seeing any comments about getting the chop, but, as you say, it's a short run.
Ending was one of those "well this is my life from now on, I guess." freeze frames surrounded by friends, so kinda 'meh' about it.
But it's a no stakes story. Basically slice of life maybe harem with superpowers. Good for killing time and turning your brain off.
