I'm not on a mission against isekai. Sao was shit but if the reasons you hate it is dumb, then i will say it's dumb.

If he use these cards it means he can afford the loss. And if he would just keep them in his pocket there would be no reason to have them.
Also his opponent's strenght was deceptive, you made a comparison with the level 99 villainess, but the same thing happened here. The oni guy looked stronger than his level would suggest, but the moment he got hit by a spellcard that could have not be parried by his sword he got blown away spectacularly.
Also do not forget that Light and friends are trying to not show off too much. Their group is supposed to be just a common group of adventurers.

Is not really nerfed. Is just that that guy is very sturdy and his level is deceptive.
