Also is the whole premise that ruin it. The mangaka already had a great tomboy girl. If the mangaka wanted to go yuri he just had to do that, instead of yaoifying it with the "magical transgender" mcguffin and stripping away all the appeal from both the plot and the protagonist.
Seriously, what add to the plot or the fanservice for the protagonist to be a "man"? This is why i have an adversion for gender bending overally. It just ruin what is already perfect.

She clearly used them as disposable pawns. That was exactly the reason why she told them to leave the island immediately. Cause SHE KNEW what would happen to them whem she was going to disappear.
She at the very least had this half hearted courtesy to try to make them leave before being arrested. But is very clear that she didn't care what was going to happen to them.
