A friend of mine had one of those trick metal cubes and explained how they are made. It’s pretty cool but the trick is that they are actually two pieces of metal fitted together so flush that the human eye can’t see the joining. You first cut a hole in the cube and discard the piece you cut out , then cut another piece of metal to match the hole and measure it precisely to fill the space with only a tiny gap the eye can’t see.
