The translation is very off.
They confusingly use they/them, and it's hard to tell what is being talked about. I thought he was talking about the family, or are we talking about a singular person? It's off-putting when they/them wrong like this.
If she's disguised as a boy just call her a he or him. Since she was introduced that way.

It's exactly like I said. If she watched as Sakura pulled one out, she would watch Sakura's desperate attempts to attack her knowing it would fail(So she didn't "kick her hands"). She was confident she could counter Sakura, and taunt Sakura. Cutting her hair instead of attacking and failing was unexpected(which was the better choice). Priorities.
Also even if she could magically attack the female sound ninja and land a hit(which would have failed), It wouldn't have killed The female sound ninja, and then there's still the other guy with the wind hands who is more dangerous than the sound woman.

If I remember correctly She tried to save Lee, got beaten, and when she got her hair grabbed she couldn't do much. Plus that sound ninja was literally watching her as Sakura took out the Kunai. Told her that's pointless,

She was expecting her to try and attack her, not her hair. So even if she did go straight after the one holding her hair, it would have completely failed.
