they are shooting muskets, non rifled weapons (which i said but yo ass cant read), aiming upwards with non rifled weapons is a HUGEEE issue, as for them you need to be pretty straight forward ahead of you and even that is a gamble at range (ive shot muskets irl). Because lead balls are very susceptible to outside influence. Also, being downhill is a huge disadvantage because the enemy has better intelligence on enemy numbers and tactics due to wider range of view. Those lower down can easily be taken out by ranged weapons as they would need either rooves or other things for their cover as opposed to those higher up as they could get away with more walls etc. Literally any old battle text will reference higher ground being better but your "im smarter than them all" thing really aint workin lol.

in times without artillery, long range rifles etc high ground is a huge advantage. I mean they dont have rifling in their guns either so shooting upwards like that will still be inaccurate asf.
