I disagree that something with this level of art and popularity is "mcdonalds", or that the intention of the author is even intending to make mcdonalds considering the amount of effort the art alone would take. I disagree with the idea that it's worth spending a chapter or two or three to introduce a character we've never seen before and then kill them off in the same breath without them contributing anything.

I think comparing a Movie with a Book or webcomic is dramatically different. Movies have to be concise compared to a "book" where you're already sinking your time investment. Additionally, the artist themself admitted that the only reason they left it on a cliffhanger ending was because they were rooting for romantica and didn't know who to choose. So, instead of wasting 2 chapters leading up to something that went nowhere and then having to explain what happened, they could've simply let it end a bit earlier with desir finally relaxing for once. (Oh yeah they said for desir to die...huh)
