For the record, I only started Naruto 6 months or so ago. I've seen all of Naruto manga, all the many spin-off manga, all the Movies and OVAs, and all of Boruto's mangas. I don't fucking hate Boruto because I want to. I want this to be good, but it's not. And I'm rightfully criticising it.
I hate it because it's a canon continuation of a story that never needed one. I hate it because it's a cash-grab. I hate it because it was something Kishimoto doesn't give a shit about to the point he gave the reins to some inexperienced amateur who just doesn't get Naruto. I hate it because it nerfs the characters and ruined the powerscaling. hate it because the entire gimmick is a power that Boruto was given for free. Yes Naruto had the 9-tails, but not only was Kurama an entertaining character, the power had its limits and Naruto had Sage mode and Ninjutsu that he EARNED through training. He overcame himself mentally and physically. Boruto's power is just the best player's account that he bought. I hate it because it ruined the plot of Naruto. I hate it because the enemies are so boring. I hate it because the art style does not fit Naruto (And it's not appealing). I hate Boruto because its fights are atrocious. I hate Boruto because it's not interesting at all. I hate Boruto because it doesn't utilise the world of Naruto in any way whatsoever, there are no interesting new areas or terrain to explore. I hate it because the character designs and outfits are the worst I've ever seen in anything ever. I hate it because the plot is stupid and non-existent. I hate it because it's slow. I hate it because it's tone is different. I hate it because it ruined and never uses the old characters. I hate it because the fanboys attack people personally because they can't take criticism of something they enjoy and refuse to see issues with it. And finally I fucking hate it because it completely ruined Ninjutsu. I'm one of the biggest Dragon Ball fans in the world, but even I can point out the stupid and awful shit in my favourite franchise in all of fiction.
I'm partial to it since Ultra instinct is my favourite form, specifically UI Sign. But I loved how it expanded the lore, how it gave the spotlight to other characters, even Roshi! It truly felt like a battle everyone participated in, something we haven't gotten since Cell. I loved Moro, his seriousness and evilness, he was like a mix of frieza and cell, with him having an army (frieza) and being serious like cell. I loved how it seamlessly did the "Toriyama" thing by revealing things to us we didn't know but makes sense, such as Buu and the Grand supreme kai, and that Moro was locked away all this time just like how Beerus was asleep until Super began. It did something that Dragon ball fucking sucks at, utilising existing assets and making a story out of them. The story in dragon ball could be much better, and the lore that has been established has been so underutilised it's crazy, which is why I adore Dragon Ball Kakumei (fan comic). Moro felt like an actual threat, he defeated the heroes multiple times. Hell, he even almost killed Goku, something that hasn't happened since DBZ, or in the anime, since the Hit filler. I loved the angel lore and the training for both out boys. Vegeta training on Yardrat was awesome and Goku training for Ultra Instinct mastery was awesome too. I loved that the way to defeat the big bad was technical this time, as opposed to just pure power.
I could go on and on about the moro arc but I think it's such an amazing arc that makes everyone relevant in some way, has a great villain that feels like a threat, and makes our boys stronger through technical training, something that hasn't been done since Goku and Gohan unlocked Super saiyan stage 4 (perfected super saiyan) in the Cell saga. The art was also peak Toyotaro, and the fight choreography was insane too. The hype moments were too many to count, and the arc jumped from place to place making it interesting and engaging compared to just earth or planet cereal or whatever slog the Granola arc was set in, which is the worst arc in dragon ball even if the new forms are cool and Frieza became a threat again which was hype. Granola arc sucks ass, I'll explain in my next TED talk lol.
Boruto fans incoming.
4 chapters is 4 months, remember that. A third of a year and the only thing that's happened is Naruto appeared, fought for a few seconds then left, and a few people got treeified.
I won't stop reading, I'm free to criticize something objectively without needing you attacking me personally for not liking something you adore to the point you attack strangers on the internet.
ooya is WING MAN OF THE CENTURY!!!
