The biggest problem with these type of stories is the fact that there's too much to lose (so much it would cripple mc's ability to reach his goal) so they have to throw a bunch of plot armor which results in complete garbage.

The to aru no index/railgun/accelerator did that perfectly. The strongest people in the manga are only as strong as they are because they know how to utilise their powers. Accelerator, the strongest esper in the city, is only ranked first because he knows how to use vector manipulation, and it was even stated that his power would be useless in the hands of someone who doesn't know how to use it.
To top it off, he wasn't even using it to its best, as he could only redirect vectors when he first appears, and only when he risked his life did he figure out how to manipulate vectors, rather than just riderecting. And that's just one of many characters.
Nowadays, 1/100 manga that comes out Are either copy-paste, generic, boring, or has a bad plot. What the hell happened to Japan's authors? Actually, what happened to all the authors?? It's like everyone scared to make something new, or just good. reader's expectation have hit rock bottom. It's so bad, I've seen people heavily praising mediocre (not bad, mediocre.) Manga/manhwa as "peak".

Bro?? What the fuck happened to the art style? It was so good and expressive in the first 30 something chapters, but suddenly degraded and became blander than the current isekai protagonists. The story also started somehow getting worse, chapters feel rushed and so does the plot. Did the author just throw his creativity away or something???
