The art style and emotions were really portrayed (enough to say a bit exaggerated) in this verse/arc, but I barely see the point, only for the author to ask the question "the online world is also a world like ourselves, with feelings and such." Also, Luv getting overly emotional after getting eaten by our NPC was a bit unfitting to me. Not to mention, with the current energy crisis and AI development, all the manhwas and series are trying to input these kinda concepts, prime example here this chapter and Jungle juice. Anyways, I find it annoying to be fair.

To be fair, penelope isn't blood related to them (shown so far in the series - so not a spoiler), but as is also shown by the color of rings over their heads, Derrick's guage shows the toxic type. Also, clear from the trial when Penelope was accused for poisoning Calisto before S2 end. But as you also pointed out, in the medieval times, that was pretty common.

That's just the part of it. The Duke and Reynold are treating penelope as daughter and sister respectively, but I don't know whether it is clearly shown yet, the affection Derrick feels for Penelope isn't brotherly love, he sees penelope as a member of the opposite sex and more as a romantic partner, so got me really disgusted there.
