I think the problem is that the battles have dragged on for too long sometimes and the author no longer builds hype with the style of even battles where you can't really know who's going to win. So basically it's both unpredictable and predictable at the same time, uneven and fair at the same time. And in the beginning that was interesting and exciting. But now it's becoming repetitive.
