You need to be taught writing basics, my dude. Because you keep spouting flowery words with little substance. Again, yes, anyone worth their salt will know how to refine this story so that no significant plot changes integral to the A plot will be affected on her removal. And it's simple to do as Maika is not vital to MC's plans. The role she fills is that of an assistant, the extra pair of hands & feet he needs because further showing competence in the multiple duties he takes in the village will break the spell of "normal slice-of-life protagonist" and set him firmly in "fantasy superhero". Take her away, replace it by giving Jigil's instigation more spotlight, have him fulfill the role of apprentice, and suddenly we have a more engaging plot of two egos clashing and a move vivid image of Ash vs the products of his environment, with a far more juicy payoff potential than the princess knight.

No, she's not integral to the pacing. I'd go further to say she's there for demographics farming and just that alone. A sales point, not a plot point.

It's pretty common as a trope—mother/daughter sandwiches in bishoujo affair, and doting father/son or son/uncle setups in otome titles. The book's basically making sport of that for this short revenge story. You'll find plenty like that, and way wackier gimmicks in eroge. It's worth looking into.

First time in eroge? Otome or Bishoujo, that's as common as the sky being blue. I recommend Princess Waltz for the maximum in laughs and also cause the story's fun.

It doesn't hold bearing. Because I read just about as much as everyone else who hits these sites. Enough to know that with a flip of a pen, that girl could cease existing, the mayor could actually become the mayor instead of the surogate for his wife, and it would affect the story exactly in zero ways save you wouldn't have any "doki doki" moments between the princess knight and the oblivious 40-year-old trapped in a boy's body. And the main plot would still exist, entirely unhindered. It would even help for him to face conflicts directly instead of inner monologuing his way past challenges.

While you're right in that stupid is as stupid does, that doesn't hold for arrogance or incompetence. Both can be treated. You might wanna get to work. I'll keep working on my end, too.
