Two handed swords(zweihanders) need a stronger, slower draw/swing action to be more effective.
That's he entire point of having a big sword. You hit slow but hit hard.
If you want I hit fast, a more nimble weapon is desirable.
Even a longsword(aren't as long as zweihanders, still two handed) would be okay.


Tl;dr, if a sword is as tall as you, it's going to be heavy, and using it with strong swings is more effective than changing the trajectory many times and losing energy.
