And you apparently didn't pay attention... He was sent to deal with the S-rank NUMBERED monsters by the losers (including the girl). Its more like they didn't expect that apostle to hit them in the middle of nowhere while the MC was busy dealing with monsters OBVIOUSLY stronger than a horde of A-ranked monsters.

I just reread and paged back Chapters 3-4, MC is still stronger than her. They both died to the same monster, but she lost and died to it in PEAK CONDITION (or after finishing one horde of A-ranked monsters), and WITH TEAMMATES at that; While the MC had to fight it after fighting endlessly over a month against TWO S-RANKED NUMBERED MONSTERS. Big difference in situations. Not to mention, she was scared sh*tless of him at Chapter 2.
