It's a good contrast to have a dumb dipshit who's strong, because so far we have smart strong dipshit and chill old strong dipshit.

Yeah cuz usually a martial art series will solve this by explaining the power scaling system like first rates, second rates, they're different realms and all that, but this doesn't do that or seem to have that so it just feels like he can fight anybody at any time and do well because he's him and it just leaves the stakes unclear.

I can't explain any other way then that it feels like reading JoJo's bizarre adventure but from like a regular human being watching them do all this s**** point of view.

I mean theoretically everything that happens has a cause and effect to it and order of advance, but the reason behind these things is a tangled mass of madness.

Step 1 say something: toss in some profanity, disregard grammar the drunker you sound the closer you're getting.Step 2 never fact check: if you said it it means you're right f*** what they heard this is what they're hearing.Step 3 stand your ground: let the waves buffeted me they'll not change my stance.

On the one hand he did choose bad examples, on the other it does highlight that if you choose three generally well liked and popular shounen series they do come across at the very least as more unique (Shounen tropes included) then a lot of the stuff he's complaining about, that being said I consider the isekai trend in Japan significantly worse than the trend of tower, dungeon, player, Hunter, game based magic system stuff from korea because the floor of quality is much lower for the Japanese stuff. Like the worst things I've read from Korea are just bland or needlessly edgy, the worst things I've read from Japan are outright foul both in writing quality and content.

Concerning that other guy, I to a degree get what he means cuz like I read a lot of good stories from Korea that have the game stuff in them a lot as well as just a good stories from Korea in general (her story is a masterpiece for instance) and even when they have good character writing sometimes it does start to feel like a crutch to use not just genre cliches but all of them use the exact same ones to the point that even some of the good ones don't actually explain why stuff is like a game, it just is. And the problem only gets worse if you read a lot of stuff in general, it's like how a lot of Isekai stuff takes place in a vaguely European Fantasyland that either has no real current issues or has a secret cult, once or twice it's fun, 30 times - you're sick of it. It doesn't mean you necessarily don't want to read anymore of these you just kind of want more originality sometimes, or you start to consider the generic b******* the toll you pay to get to the part of the series you like.
It would be like if 70% of shonen just also used the chakra as their magic system like in Naruto but they're all very slightly different and all of them have a main character that vaguely looks like Naruto with very slight differences and they very often don't actually do much with the supporting cast to make them feel like people or characters instead of support, and a lot of the time they don't even bother to use different terms for the things in universe between different seemingly unrelated series (think about how many times you've seen hunters or players in these series)
but yeah he was really out of pocket with the level of aggression he came at the topic with.
TLDR: it seems like he's just kind of sick of the genre tropes that show up a lot in these Korean series (e.g. the magic systems just a game stat system for no discernible reason) but expressed his dissatisfaction in a generally dickish way.

Well in the series the main character refers to the chat as "Bros" and if I'm being honest yeah it's kind of grating because it just kind of feels like an out of place choice in words. I just learned to ignore it like I do most (non-plot significant) honorifics in Japanese things.

I'm conflicted... On the one hand I like the chat and his interactions with them as it is a significantly more reactive and responsive version of the constellation system present in other series, on the other I am beyond sick of this zombie survival bullshit I was sick of it when it was all over American shit and I'm sick of it in Japanese shit and I'm sick of it in Korean shit (I would like to see it in Bollywood though I just want to see what they do with zombies imagine the musical number) I was hoping he would start running into less zombies but it seems they're the common mobs instead of something like goblins or kobolds, hell I'd even take shitty "clearly 3D models that we Trace over or scan in" skeletons at this point.

I cannot get a clear read on the main character yet cuz sometimes it seems like he genuinely does not give a s*** if anybody else dies and then he'll randomly care but I can't tell if that's performative or not, then there's weird s*** like him treating everybody that's not him like an NPC before he knew life merged with the game.

I'm still thrown off by him just going off of the assumption that all of this is essentially a video game with planned interactions and everything when going off of the chat it's more like someone just picks a person to watch and the people watching treat it like a game because they don't give a f*** about him.

I mean so far this is generic as shit but the chat has added a bit of flavor to it even if the chat is kind of just the constellation system of other series but more casual, the arts not great or bad but some elements are kind of out of place because of that.

I think what makes it weird is somehow not being able to use a bat like a bat that's a basic swinging tool, you know something an actual ape could do, (f*** I've seen dogs use bats and they don't even have hands) but somehow being able to use a bat as a f****** pinpoint three headshots in one go spear is something he could do off rip while improvising but he couldn't use it as a regular f****** weapon. Like let's set aside the fact that you need significantly more force to push through three people in one go like that then you would to just hit them with the bat, he didn't have the coordination to just swing a bat at them but he could nail all three of them in the throat. They honestly could have fixed this by just having him kill one of them with the bat but the bat brakes so then he has to stab them.

It is such a genuine bummer that this manga got canceled because these plot threads are going to go nowhere.

It feels like he got an editor that told him "it's funny when he's creepy, make him creepier, and also he's too passive make him more active. We're in Japan BABY everyone loves an aggressive pervert" it's how I imagine a lot of the weird tacked on perverted characters get added to series. (Except a grapehead in mha, the author's just sort of like that)
