From my point of view, the problem wasn't the last chapter, which I thought was a marginally clever way to complete a manga that did not have much of a plot or strong characters. Mimiel had one victory criterion, "Learn to love." She gave up her own life for Ren. And, as Jesus said in John 15:13, "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends." As such, it's a fitting ending for a marginal manga (with many misquotations of the Bible).

Then after investing time in college, and internships, you learn too late that teaching school is a thankless job where you can't please everyone , has a lot of internal and external politics, and much time spent off the job grading papers. (At least this is so in the US.) I have known many teachers that regretted their choice. Math and science teachers have marketable skills, so they are hard to retain. Practically, the rest are trapped, though I know of one English teacher who became a successful real estate salesman. Many of them count off the years until retirement longingly.

I'm a mathematical businessman of sorts (actuary, quant), so I would give my wife who was a high school math teacher a break by helping her grade papers on occasion. If she didn't need it, I would study for my actuarial exams. She was grateful to me that she could quit teaching, and become a full-time wife and mother. She loved it.
