It depends on how well they're executed, which this one does fine. The epic factor of "oh he's doing it under worse conditions than his ancestor and faster than anyone expected" but we haven't gotten any new techniques yet, like other stories, but that's honestly fine since it builds it up.
Worse stories might just give him new techniques with little explanation or correlation to the training, and then end the training arc after some dynamic poses
We even get some exposition with this to boot
