my prediction is that this is a fungal entity that got fascinated with MC but doesn't know how to communicate, he will defeat it, then it will take human form (probably a loli) and then join the group.

this guy is actually smart, but he's assuming MC has yet to obtain talent strong enough to oppose 80k army. unfortunately for him, he's being driven by greed and ambition which will cloud his judgment.

above all else, plot armor pretty much trumps everything else.

they certainly need some of those. they have no support magic at all.

i think that last bit about brotherhood is him trying to do just that. he is too smart to be a puppet outright but he knows he has no choice. he may even propose that the luo boy marry the younger princess to have some sort of tie to them. he is trying his best to accept his situation but he also knows that for his family line to end like this is probably not desirable.

he was always in the background doing thing here and there. he probably already knew how things were playing out but did not do anything.

admittedly, even fatty there has some pride. but he ha more intellect than pride so that will make him a much more capable ruler.
