But more than funnier, its interesting because if regression on one side is ridiculously overpowered especially for characters that are already strong or at least average. So giving the opponent the same privilege of memories makes it harder to imagine the actions of both sides

Yeah at the start he was cringe I can't deny it, but after he dies a few times, well that's where calling him a p*ssy is too far
Also him acting like that later in the series is his coping mechanism and him acting (its explained in arc 2)

After Arc 3 however, sh*t gets crazy and there isn't much cringe scenes left afterwards (season 3 however made the villain a bit goofy but it's still good)

Though for the best experience, I recommend the novel, the anime doesn't have the same impact
