Nah he's dumb for creating a plot hole that isn't real. Some people want so badly to shit on stories that they do this shit instead of waiting for an actual problem in the story to arise.

Yeah but he's arguing that the author SHOULD have had this one make battering rams useless because reasons. Why would the author make up a type of magic to make the plot slower to advance? That's fucking idiotic.

U sure are quite the idealist. It's easy just create an automatic magic detector that kills every barbarian forehead. Do u even read what ur writing?

U know what happens if they do that? They kill the first squad that tries to use the battering ram, and then out comes another squad. They have thousands of people.

The reason a gate loses is because it needs to be constructed in such a way that allows people to go through. If it were just more wall that wouldn't be an issue. The issue is that it's in the middle of a city and civilians need to go through every day. If you have a trap you're gonna accidentally kill civilians. All the stuff you're saying is great in theory, but doesn't work in practice.

No matter how much you upgrade a gate, a well used battering ram will beat it. That's how battering rams work.

I was talking about irl. It was just another example of how targeted offense beats broad defense.

Listen. Obviously they knew that. This is not a matter of knowledge. This is a matter of physics. Battering rams beat gates. It's like rock paper scissors. Or us that also too complicated for you to understand?

I mean to be fair they were kinda taking him for granted. They made a deal, then treated him like a slave. He's kinda in the right to feel pissed off.

Easier said than done. Also, did any part of this story extoll the virtues of the beowulf smith's? Didn't think so. Even so, battering rams often just took gates off of their hinges, not breaking through so it wouldn't matter. I agree that the ram should have been more rounded, but the fact that you decided to take issue with it is way dumber than drawing a sub optimal battering ram.

Bruh. Longbow shots pierced plate armor on a regular basis. They made the plate armor so heavy to counteract it that they had to be put on their horses with a small crane/winch.

They could have just used a medium thick tree and it would have worked. That's just how this works my man.

It's just that a horizontal pole will always be stronger than a vertical plank in the horizontal direction. Ur not gonna make a door using horizontal cylinders. That's the whole reason battering rams work. It's not a contest of materials its a contest of shapes.

There was a chunk of time. I think it was a time skip.
