U know what happens if they do that? They kill the first squad that tries to use the battering ram, and then out comes another squad. They have thousands of people.

The reason a gate loses is because it needs to be constructed in such a way that allows people to go through. If it were just more wall that wouldn't be an issue. The issue is that it's in the middle of a city and civilians need to go through every day. If you have a trap you're gonna accidentally kill civilians. All the stuff you're saying is great in theory, but doesn't work in practice.

Bruh. Longbow shots pierced plate armor on a regular basis. They made the plate armor so heavy to counteract it that they had to be put on their horses with a small crane/winch.
